Abstract

NPO Statement

Many small rural Global Methodist Church (GMC) congregations have limited access to pastors and, as such, are in critical need of alternative forms of spiritual leadership.

Key Insights

Life in the Spirit must precede spiritual leadership. The church desperately needs members and leaders living lives led by, walking after, and informed by the Spirit. It is my conviction that with an increased awareness of the Spirit, a desire for intimacy will arise, a drawing to wade into the Water of Life, to be more open to desire and experience a deeper encounter with and understanding of the Holy Spirit. Through intimacy the Spirit prepares and draws Christians into ministry, leadership and corporate life. The project helped me to solidify a robust pneumatology explainable to those desiring more of the Spirit. My prayer is that this project will draw people to seek and find the Spirit, to fan the flame of the Spirit in all who read it.

Ministry Context

I serve as a recently appointed quarter-time pastor of a small rural GMC congregation.

Description of the Project

This project is a book illuminating how the Spirit brings life and health to the church. The Project contains a table of contents followed by the author’s note. The continued presentation is along the lines of a two-act play. The project has an Overture (introduction) and two Acts. The first Act has four Scenes each dealing with the role of the Holy Spirit in Christian formation. The second Act has four Scenes which illustrate how the Spirit actively prepares believers for ministry, leadership, and corporate life. Between the two Acts is an Interlude or segue that forms a bridge linking the work of the Spirit into one. The play ends with the Closing Curtain revealing the Magnum Opus of God.
