Description

Light brown felt men's hat. Has medium brown stripe around the brim and a small dark brown string circling the top. The hat is stiff and smells heavily of mothballs or some other chemical. The description reads: "three men's hats. Men almost always wore hats, especially if going to market or to town."

General Note:

Found with Aymara artifacts, which were collected from Aymara households in the rural Altiplano countryside in the Department of Puno in Southern Peru. They were collected in the 1960s from Aymara Friends church, in the Juli, Ilave, and Ilave Penninsula areas of Peru
