Description

M.J. Murdock was one of the founders of Tektronix Inc. Murdock began funding projects at George Fox during his lifetime. He was especially interested in projects that would grow the student body. After his death his estate of more than $85 million was used to establish the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust which grants funds to be used for “religious, charitable, scientific, or educational purposes.” Nearly every major construction project in the past two decades has received funds from the trust. The M.J. Murdock Learning Resource Center, our university library, is named for Murdock who funded a major renovation of the library in the 1980s that greatly expanded the space and resources in the library.
