"Ye Olde Royal Feaste" started in the early 1980s at George Fox College by Professor John D. Bowman. The highly popular annual Renaissance Christmas event ran for 15 years and always sold out. The College dining hall was transformed by means of banners and other decor to resemble a medieval Great Hall. The Chamber Singers served as the royal court., with the remaining Concert Choir members acting as servants, footmen, beggars, etc. The College food service under Bill Jackson provided a full meal with appropriate menu.
A Christmas concert was the main focus of the evening, with drama sometimes provided by Professor Mel Schroeder and the George Fox Players, and at other times by choir members. Professor David Howard played the harpsichord and recorder, with students also playing various recorders. A trumpeter provided fanfares for the various evening's activities. A wizard provided entertainment, as well as Father Christmas and a monk attempting to raise funds. Costumes were made by Shari Bowman, wife of John Bowman.
