Abstract
Most of the major denominations of America are members of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in America. This means that they are represented in all the phases of the Council's work, including the evangelistic endeavors. The supreme purpose of the Church should be to bring a sinful world to believe in Jesus Christ as Saviour. The Joint Department of Evangelism was especially designed to lead the member denominations in this endeavor. It is important to study and note the measure of effectiveness which has characterized this most significant area of the National Council's work.
