Abstract
This doctoral project, Leadaptive, addresses the following NPO: inflexible leadership style in Pentecostal and Charismatic churches stifles growth, leading to stagnation and reduced gospel impact. The project addresses this challenge within my vocational context as the Senior Pastor of a multisite church in the United Kingdom, a national denominational leader, and the Chair of Global Church Planting for a worldwide Pentecostal fellowship of more than 460,000 churches. In these settings, leaders often face a tension between spiritual conviction and adaptive responsiveness. The project seeks to design and implement a replicable, Christcentered framework to help pastors lead effectively through the diverse seasons of church life.
Using the Collaborative Design for Ministry and Nonprofit Contexts methodology, the research produced Leadaptive coaching, which comprises an eleven-month syllabus, an interactive workbook, diagnostic tools, and a three-day residential retreat. A fully integrated digital environment supports a hybrid and globally accessible learning experience, allowing leaders to engage deeply and consistently regardless of location or ministry demands.
This study evaluates pastoral growth and ministry outcomes through a structured pre-, mid-, and post-assessment framework. Test results indicate increased leadership adaptability, emotional maturity, and team cohesion. The key insight emerging from this research is that leadership flexibility is both teachable and transferable; it can be developed through intentional formation, reflective practice, and Spirit-led discernment.
Leadaptive contributes to practical theology and leadership studies by offering a scalable, evidence-based approach that forms adaptive leaders capable of sustaining growth and advancing gospel impact in Pentecostal and Charismatic contexts.
