Abstract
Need Problem Opportunity (NPO) Statement
Women of faith aspiring to leadership positions in the nonprofit sector need to be strategically equipped with specialized knowledge, experience, and interpersonal awareness.
Key Insights That Emerged From Research
When this journey began, I envisioned my project focusing on executive leadership transitions in nonprofit organizations. However, through interactive discovery in this doctoral program, I realized that the scope was too narrow. Women at different career levels wanted to learn, grow, and have opportunities to connect with other women. This led me to develop a seminar series intended for women interested in personal and professional growth. The refined direction integrates faith, general leadership skills, and interpersonal awareness, making it immediately impactful for seminar participants, regardless of their current position. By empowering women through the seminar series, they will be more effective in their current roles and also better positioned to advance their careers as opportunities arise. Rather than emphasizing transitions, this direction supports emerging leaders, who will ultimately strengthen and increase the pool of eligible CEO, upper, and mid-level leadership candidates for nonprofit organizations.
Ministry of Vocational Context
This NPO addresses the need for women working in the nonprofit sector in Northeast Florida who would like to strengthen their skills for current or potential positions, including leadership opportunities. Faith integration is intentional because many Christian women working in secular settings may not have access to explore the power and impact of their faith and leadership.
Description of the Project
The project I have chosen to create is a five-session seminar series. Each seminar will explore three areas: the development or enhancement of leadership skills; aspects of interpersonal awareness of self and others; and faith intersection that considers how faith impacts leadership and how leadership can affect a woman's faith.
