Description
Dr. Henry John Minthorn served as the first Superintendent of Pacific Academy. His wife, Laura, simultaneously served as the first principal of the grammar school. Dr. Minthorn was a physician, Indian Agent, teacher, missionary and land developer. When his nephew, young Herbert Hoover, was orphaned, Minthorn took him in and raised him. His leadership put the fledgling institution on firm footing in the community.
