Abstract
An analysis of existential ecumenism as a dimension of inter-church unity, which is being formed in modern Ukraine due to a common existential threat from the Russian aggressor, when Ukrainian churches unite in an ecumenical response to war crimes, focusing on practical cooperation in real life, on the tasks of social service, and not on existing doctrinal or institutional differences. Existential ecumenism combines the main ideas of existential philosophy, with its emphasis on the value of the human person, the significance of the themes of human freedom and human choice in the face of meaninglessness and death, and ecumenism as a movement aimed at achieving unity between Christian denominations and activating their cooperation. The authors focus primarily on examining the content of specific forms of implementation of the idea of existential ecumenism in Ukraine, such as types of solidarity actions of Ukrainian churches in the field of humanitarian assistance to various categories of the population affected by the consequences of the war, the specifics of chaplaincy as a sphere of inter-religious and inter-faith cooperation, the search for institutional mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between religious communities.
